Professional Development

Think It By Hand Professional Development is Common Core Standards aligned

Think It By Hand professional development and hands-on manipulatives are Common Core aligned from arithmetic through trigonometry.  Our training and materials connect computational skills with conceptual understanding through a hands-on approach to learning that is interactive and highly engaging for students.  Our professional development is evidence based and asserts that when students can see and interact with math, they can think critically about math.  Our unique manipulatives also support this evidence by providing teachers with the necessary tools to make math visually, physically and intellectually engaging for students!

We provide teachers with the actual hands-on experiences during their training that they will be using in their classrooms.  Our training is also available with in-class coaching.  This provides teachers with useful modeling as they learn to apply their training to their classroom teaching.

For professional development and materials quotations, please call Guy Foresman at (888) 723-4402 or Email: guy@thinkitbyhand.com

Our professional qualifications and professional development options:

All of our teacher trainers are credentialed and highly experienced in Common Core math and science education.

Our professional development is versatile to meet the needs of individual schools and districts.  Full day training (6 hours of training) can be arranged into two back-to-back half day trainings at no additional cost.  In-class coaching and demonstration lessons can be a component of the day of teacher training.

In-class coaching/demonstration lessons enable groups of 4 to 6 teachers to observe the trainer deliver a grade level lesson within the host classroom.  This feature provides a valuable opportunity for teachers to see the pedagogy and content of a grade level lesson carried out within an actual classroom setting.  In-class training can be arranged for any grade level and school within your district.  Contact us for details on how this can be a component to a day of professional development.

Below is our fee outline for full and half day training. Please call for a professional development quotation and voluntary letters of recommendation from numerous heads of instruction throughout the U.S.  (888) 723-4402.

Training Rates:

Full day training is $2,475 per day per trainer (5 to 60 teachers).

A full day is six hours of training instruction.  This per day rate includes all consulting and pre-planning, six hours of training with a highly qualified and credentialed trainer, and all travel expenses.  The consulting and pre-planning phase is customized to your needs.  Multiple day training is reduced to $2,000 per day for each consecutive day of training.

Training can be provided to multi grade level groups (elementary, middle school, and high school), or by grade single level or subject (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).

Think It By Hand professional development is also designed to develop the teacher's pedagogical skills and techniques to be able to train other teachers within your district.  Mastery of any subject or skill comes from sharing that talent with others.  Our professional development is grounded on this successful and practical approach.  Think It By Hand is your partner in K-12 math education.
