K-12 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR MATHEMATICS FROM THINK IT BY HAND
Our professional development brings together hands-on and interactive resources with proven instructional practices that will provide significantly improved outcomes for at-risk, special education, ELL, and general education students, K-12.
Our professional development is comprehensive and will gain the support and dedication of teachers and administrators in addressing and meeting the instructional challenges and potentials within elementary and secondary math education.
All of our teacher trainers are credentialed and experienced in math and science education.
Our professional development is versatile to meet the needs of individual schools and districts. Any of the training phases below can be arranged in single or multiple sessions. Sessions can range in length from 90 minutes to 5 hours per group for K-6 and 90 minutes to 3 hours per group for secondary. Back to back training is welcome.
Please note that classroom observation lessons can be arranged. In-class lessons enable teachers to observe a grade level lesson within a host classroom. This feature provides a valuable opportunity for teachers to see the strategies as well as the content of a grade level lesson carried out within an actual classroom setting. In-class lessons can be arranged for any grade level and school within your district.
Each training phase is designed to build on the skills and strategies learned in the previous training phase, as well as on the existing strengths of the participants. Each phase will provide all participants with significant growth in their teaching skills and strategies. Below is an outline of the three professional development training phases, resource options, and costs.
You will find Think It By Hand to be an effective and important partner in education.

TRAINING PHASES, K-12
$2,475 per phase (1 to 60 teachers)
Phase I - Foundations for Success
Introduces participants to models of instruction that connect abstract computational skills to the hands-on development of conceptual understanding. Participants will be able to effectively introduce this hands-on and interactive model of instruction immediately within their classroom. Tailored to your specification of grade range, this interactive model will address all educational levels (special ed, general ed, gifted ed, ELL).
Phase II - Building On Success
Now that the participants have begun to implement phase one, this second phase constructively builds on that experience. The instructional insight and experience of both the group and the trainer are coordinated to build on the momentum and success that the participants began in the first phase through shared examination of answers to specific instructional questions and situations. This phase profoundly deepens the model of hands-on and interactive instruction.
Phase III - Mastering and Sharing
Mastery of any subject or skill comes from sharing that talent with others. This phase is designed to develop the instructional skills, techniques, and pedagogical language to versatilely meet the teaching needs of other educators throughout your school and district. The ability to impart and evaluate these instructional elements will be the goal of this phase.
Each of the three phases of training includes:
· Consulting and pre-planning
· Six hours of training with a qualified and teacher credentialed trainer (195.00 per additional hour up to eight hours per day per trainer)
· Travel expenses
